Christi Griffin’s unique combination of corporate legal, private practice, and management experience makes it possible for her to anticipate and respond to her client’s legal interests as an experienced legal advisor.
Corporate experience includes serving as Vice President and General Counsel to an outsourced clinical services business holding the dominant market share in the US and Germany, Vice President and Assistant General Counsel to the largest publicly traded dialysis company globally, and Assistant General Counsel to the Washington, DC-based Blue Cross Blue Shield plan.
Private practice includes representing health care organizations at the litigation firms of Gideon & Wiseman and Howell & Fisher in Nashville and at the national firm of Epstein, Becker & Green in Washington, DC. Areas of practice included medical malpractice, hospital operations and liability matters, insurance coverage, and contract and business transactions.
Management experience includes operations and strategic planning for community, tertiary, teaching and government hospitals, including Dana Farber Cancer Institute, New England Deaconess Hospital and the Veterans Administration Health System.
Client engagements include:
- Advising client in series of complex business acquisitions and recapitalizations.
- Managing regulatory compliance exposures and related government communications.
- Successfully litigating unfair business practices lawsuits.
- Designing and executing contract strategies.
- Being engaged by hospital medical staff to represent interests in connection with medical staff bylaws.
- Serving as legal counsel to start-up assisted living facility.
- Developing and conducting legal risk management training for business and medical professionals.
- Drafting provisions of Tennessee’s 2012 Patient Care and Quality
- Improvement Act to ensure statutory protection for non-traditional providers.

Christi is an accomplished attorney and legal executive with a proven track record of representing innovative organizations in all business life cycle stages, both as a corporate lawyer serving on the senior management team and as a private law practitioner. Christi speaks to industry groups on health care legal operations and liability management issues, providing education and tools to improve business performance. She is currently an adjunct professor at the Cumberland University Labry School of Business and Technology.
